Pick up this great gift idea. While overseeing the mosaics department of a tile manufacturing company Debbie Bean found her inspiration for these colorful coasters not in the perfect pieces in front of her but in the rainbow-colored glass fragments being discarded at her feet. She began collecting these vibrant and irregularly shaped glass pieces and sought to give them a life of their own as lovely luminous coasters. To make each set of four coasters she cuts the glass pieces by hand lays out the one-of-a-kind designs for each coaster and then hand-pours cement into a mold. Once dried she sands each coaster and affixes felt pads to the bottoms to protect surfaces. With unique patterns and palettes arranged by chance each piece is a functional work of art that makes a lovely backdrop for your favorite drinks. Handmade in Tujunga California.
